Shutters

A shutter is a mechanical element that is placed in front or behind a window to protect a room from the light outside or the weather conditions. Shutter can be made out of different materials. PVC (Vinyl) and aluminium are the most common due to their lightness and resistance. The shutter has a double movement to open or close. Usually, it goes up and down. The most usual system consists in rolling up the slats which are stored in an upper drum inside a box above the window. The shutter is componed by slats.

The noun “shutter” comes form the French word “persienne”. It means “From Persia” because it was brought to Europe in the XVIII century from Persia. In older times, and before the use of modern-time windows, one-piece wooden shutters where used.

The first Venetian shutters were introduced around 1770 in Italy, supposedly in Venice (hence its name).

ROLLING SHUTTERS:

Are the most popular kind of shutters in Spain. Its main advantage, apart from avoiding the light coming inside the building is to cut off the windows from the exterior, enhancing thus the thermic and acoustic insulation. Acoustic insulation is obtained adding an extra layer of air.

ALUMINIUM ROLLING SHUTTER:

Thermic slat in aluminium injected with polyurethane foam.

ROLLING SHUTTER IN PVC:

40 mm. straight PVC slat

SECURITY ROLLING SHUTTER MADE OUT OF EXTRUDED ALUMINIUM:

Curved slat in extruded aluminium. Great resistance and protection.

CASES FOR ROLLING SHUTTERS

UTour types of cases are used. Three are manufactured by us: Opened, closed and monoblock in wood. We commercialize the monoblock pvc case. The “opened” and “closed” cases are made of wood and inside them accommodate the roller for the slats. The “opened” one is fixed to the ceiling and it needs no wood panel. On the contrary, the “closed” case needs a wood panel as it is not fixed to the ceiling.

The “monoblock” cases are compact cases that are placed just on top of the window and have all the components inside.

HOW TO OPERATE

TAPE DRIVE:

A tape drive is the most common means to operate it, as it is the less expensive and can rise a maximum weight of 18 kgs. It can be used in most cases.

CRANKED WINDING HANDLE:

The cranked winding andel operation system is the best alternative to the use of a motor, if we refer to manual operation.

Recommended for oversized shutters, and also in those cases when the weight of the shutter might prove too heavy for the user.

The cranked winding handle that we commercialize can rise from 18 to 30 kgs.

MOTORS:

Tubular motors fitted within the roller. To operate a switch is used. It can stop at any time. Remote control can be added.
